Missouri is among the most restrictive states on reproductive health and rights.
Only three abortion clinics continue to serve Missouri's 5.5 million citizens.
For the past four years, the Missouri legislature has attempted to pass bills that allow pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for emergency contraception.
Faith Aloud works with Missouri's minority pro-choice legislators to promote healthy policies such as:
Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emergencies (CARE Act)
- CARE would guarantee that emergency rooms offer rape victims emergency contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
HPV Education
- The human papiloma virus that causes genital warts, cervical cancer, and other genital cancers can be prevented with a vaccine given to girls and boys before the onset of sexual activity.
Access to emergency contraception in pharmacies
- "Plan B" and "Ella" are contraceptive pills that can prevent pregnancy 1-5 days after unprotected intercourse.
Prevention First Act
- This bill promotes comprehensive sex education and accesss to contraception as the logical preventive measures to good reproductive healthcare.
The Faith Aloud Missouri Policy Project works hard to educate lawmakers on the medical facts about abortion and contraception. We also work to dispute the erroneous information that is spread in order to outlaw abortion. We know that women are capable of making good moral decisions and that they know when it is best to continue or discontinue a pregnancy. We oppose all efforts to put lawmakers between women and their doctors.
